Về nguyên tắc thì OS 9.1 và OS 9.2 chỉ khác nhau về giao diện sử dụng và một số tiện ích. Hầu hết các ứng dụng của OS9.1 đều có thể sử dụng cho OS 9.2 (trừ một số ứng dụng có yêu cầu về độ phân giải màn hình hoặc được viết riêng cho cấu trúc đặc biệt của Model đó).
Có rất nhiều ứng dụng được viết chung cho OS 9 mà không phân biệt OS 9.1 và OS 9.2

Thực tế cũng cho thấy: Trừ các phần mềm xoay màn hình (Nokoteme,Rotateme) thì có sự khác biệt, còn các phần mềm ứng dụng khác như : Khoá phím (Mr.Lock, Autolock, ADL) Quản lý cuộc gọi (ACM, Best Black List, Kill Mobile TotalReCall), Tăng kích thước font chữ (Psiloc Fontmagniefier).... và còn nhiều cái khác, đều có thể cài được trên cả OS 9.1 và OS 9.2.
Hệ điều hành Symbian
Hệ điều hành Symbian là hệ điều hành độc quyền và phát triển chỉ cho các thiết bị di động.Các thư viện lập trình liên quan, giao diện người dùng hay những công cụ phát triển được cung cấp độc quền bởi công ty Symbian Ltd.Số lượng điện thoại sử dụng Symbian đang chiếm thị phần lớn nhất, bao gồm Smartphone Nokia Series 60, UIQ, Series80, Series 90, và các điện thoại của NTT DoCoMo Foma.
Mục đích chính của Symbian OS khi được thiết kế là chuyên dùng cho các thiết bị cầm tay với những nguồn tài nguyên (bộ nhớ, CPU…) bị giới hạn mà có thể chạy hàng tháng hay hàng năm, tối ưu và giảm thiểu các rủi ro trong bộ nhớ… Chính vì vậy, cấu trúc hoạt động của Symbian gây khá nhiều khó khăn cho các lập trình viên khi tìm hiểu về nó
Việc lập trình cho Symbian OS được thiết kế theo hướng chuỗi “sự kiện” nên CPU phải tắt và bật lại khi một ứng dụng không cùng làm việc được với một “sự kiện” mà nó cần.

1/ ''Certificate may not yet be valid , is expired or phone's date setting may be incorrect :''
- Khi gặp Lỗi này các bạn chỉ cần chỉnh lại Ngày Giờ cho Đúng với thời điểm hiện tại theo Múi giờ Việt Nam(Hà Nội)

2/ ''Not support (file)'' :
- Do Phần Mềm bạn Cài đặt không phải là của S60v3rd (OS 9.1, 9.2) hoặc do Phần mềm - Ứng dụng có tên quá dài bạn nên đặt tên file đơn giản trước khi Cài đặt.

3/ ''File Corupted :''
- Phần mềm-Ứng dụng bị lỗi, Bạn nên tìm Phần mềm-Ứng dụng khác để Cài đặt.

4/ ''Error update :''
- Symbian OS 9.1, 9.2 không cho Auto update vesion của Phần mềm-Ứng dụng, Phải xoá bỏ Phần mềm - Ứng dụng cũ trên máy mới Cài đặt được Phần mềm-Ứng dụng mới.

5/ ''Certificate error contact the application supplier :''
- Khi gặp Lỗi này bạn phải SIGNSIS Soft trước khi cài (Đăng ký Bản quyền Sử dụng Phần mềm theo số IMEI, bởi vậy không dùng Soft đã Đăng ký theo IMEI máy mình mà Cài đặt cho máy khác được).

6/ ''Certificate exprired hoặc Exprired Certificate :''
- Lỗi này xảy ra đối với một số dòng máy mới hoặc firmware mới, bạn có thể Đổi - Cài đặt lại Ngày Giờ lùi lại khoảng 1 Tháng hay vài Tháng có khi 1 Năm, nhưng cũng có khi không Cài đặt được Phần mềm-Ứng dụng, phải đợi Version mới hổ trợ cho máy của bạn.

- Chú ý :
Ngoài ra để Khắc Phục Lỗi :
"Chứng chỉ hết hạn'' (Expired Certificate)
Khi Set Up nếu Gặp trực trặc ji thì Tùy chỉnh ngày giờ On phone lại là theo Múi giờ Việt Nam(Hà Nội) và là ngày 19/03/2007.Sau khi Set Up Ok rồi thì Chỉnh lại ngày giờ hiện tại.

How it works:


When the service is activated you can access its functionality by pressing [Menu] *** during a call and / or some seconds after it is completed
During the call MENU k e y behavior is modified. Its first press pops up the service window with additional functions you can access during the call. Second press - opens menu application, third - opens phone application. Long press - opens built-in taskmanager. Some seconds after the call (configurable) the default behavior of menu *** is restored. Also the service can be configured to pop up automatically when the call started or ended if needed.

The Nokia Activity Monitor displays charts and statistics, in real-time, about your movements while walking or running. It counts the number of steps, and determines the distance covered and the energy expenditure. Summaries are stored in a diary so that you can compare your activity level on different days, and over longer periods of time. Your steps are detected by analysing the output from the accelerometer in an S60 smart phone. It is most accurate when you attach the phone to your belt, or upper arm, and it also works well if carry your phone in a pocket of your clothing. It might underestimate the number of steps if you keep the phone in a bag that you hold in your hand (as opposed to over your shoulder), and the most difficult case is when you hold the phone in your hand. Inevitably, false steps are detected sometimes, for example when you are cycling or driving.

The Activity Monitor currently runs on the N95 (http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/devices/spec-nokia-n95.html) and the N95 8GB (http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/devices/spec-nokia-n95-8gb.html). You must have a memory card in your phone for the application to work. Be aware that the Activity Monitor's use of the accelerometer requires a fair amount of battery power. It does not shut down gracefully when the voltage drops, so keep an eye on the battery indicator during the day, and don't forget to stop the Activity Monitor before you go to bed!

When somebody calls, the application answers the call with a greeting as defined by you and records the voice message left by the caller.

Hướng dẫn dùng điện thoại Nokia Symbian làm Modem cho PC vào Internet (thông qua mạng GPRS):


Yêu cầu:


Điện thoại Symbian có chức năng dùng làm Modem (kiểm tra bằng cách xem trong phần kết nối có biểu tượng Modem hoặc kết nối với máy tính thì điện thoại Nokia sẽ hỏi có muốn kết nối với PC vào Internet hay không?).
Điện thoại đã kích hoạt và dùng được GPRS.
Máy vi tính cài Windows và đã cài Nokia PC Suite


Sau đây là các bước thực hiện (tương ứng mỗi bước là 1 hình minh họa phía dưới):


Kết nối điện thoại với máy tính bằng cáp USB.
Trên điện thoại chọn "Kết nối PC vào Internet", chờ một chút.
Chờ một chút xong rồi, trên Windows sẽ hiện hộp thoại Autorun đề nghị cài Nokia PC Internet Access, bạn chọn Run Nokia PCIA.exe để cài luôn.
Cài xong, máy tính sẽ tự cài Driver và khởi động chương trình kết nối, chương trình kết nối sẽ tự động tìm mạng thích hợp trên điện thoại để kết nối Internet. Tuy nhiên nếu chương trình trên máy tính không tìm được thì bạn phải click Settings, và nhập vào thông số kết nối GPRS (tùy vào mỗi mạng, thông số y như nhập trên điện thoại).
Cuối cùng click Connect và bắt đầu lướt net (Các lần sau không cần cấu hình nữa, bạn chỉ cần mở PC Suite, chọn biểu tượng kết nối PC vào Internet là xong).

OggPlay is an Ogg vorbis audio player.

OggPlay is an Ogg vorbis audio player.

Ogg Vorbis is an audio compression format similar to mp3. However the compressed files are approximately a factor two smaller than mp3 files.

To be more precise an ogg file encoded with 64kbit/sec gives approximately the same level of audio quality as a 128kbit/sec mp3 file.

In addition the ogg format is a free format, i.e. nobody pays license fees when recording or playing music in this format.

File Format Supported:

Oggplay is able to use standard Symbian MMF plugins. MMF (Multimedia Framework) is a feature of Symbian Operating System that allows (among other things) 3rd parties to use audio decoder plugins. With MMF, Oggplay can use the phone built-in audio decoders (MP3, AAC, MP4), as well as decoders installed by users. The MMF comes bundled together with the Symbian OS 7.0S and above, in the phone firmware, and can't be installed in phones afterwards.

Since Oggplay is able to use both built-in and downloadable plugins, the file formats supported by Oggplay depends a lot on the phone OggPlay is running on.

Some phones do not support Apple's iTunes format (M4A). However, M4A is same format as MP4. So to be able to play M4A files on these phones, you'll have to rename the extension of each files to MP4.

Note that installing OggPlay no longer allows oggs and flacs to be played by the built-in music player or used as ringtones. In order to add this functionality download and install the MMF plugin.

Note also that if you are upgrading from earlier versions and have skin packages installed, these will need to re-installed.

Known issues:

1. You need to restart the phone before running OggPlay (otherwise text will not be displayed correctly)

2. You need to restart the phone before attempting to uninstall - On the N80 (running firmware v4.0623.0.41) Oggplay cannot be uninstalled

Random Ringing Tone

The .ogg plugin provided with this release can be used as a random ringing tone : everytime a phone call is received, the ringing tone played will be randomly choosen from the list of available .ogg files in the device. To enable this random ringing tone, the following must be done:

1. Copy the file random_ringing_tone.ogg provided in the release package to your phone, in the same directory where the file you wish to use as random ringing tones. The random ringing tone will be chosen only from that directory.

2. Select the file random_ringing_tone.ogg to be your ringing tone. The way to do this depends on your device. But it's usually from the profile menu, or from the phone's music player.

3. When you will receive a phone call, the tone will be selected from the .ogg files found in same directory than the random_ringing_tone.ogg. The song played should be different everytime you get a call.

A word of warning... This feature relies a lot on your HW Firmware. It might not work, and there are no guarantees that it will work in all situations.

Thiết lập emTube.

Khả năng của emTube là việc tìm kiếm những tập tin video chia sẻ. Bạn cần thiết lập lại một vài thông số trước khi sử dụng chương trình thông qua tùy chọn Options > Settings.

Tại mục Volumn, bạn chọn âm thanh khi phát tập tin FLV. Mục Start Video, bạn chọn manually để phát bất kỳ khi nào bạn muốn, chọn after download finish để phát tập tin flv từ Youtube sau khi tải xong, chọn As soon as possible để phát ngay khi có thể từ cache.

Phần Cache size cho bạn chọn dung lượng lưu đệm tập tin từ Youtube. Mặc định là 512 KB, bạn có thể tùy chỉnh lên 1024 KB để xem tốt hơn. Phần Temp Memory bạn nên chọn dung lượng có từ Phone memory. Bây giờ bạn có thể khai thác emTube để sử dụng thật hiệu quả.
